Chocolate Chip Cookies can be made with a healthy twist! Check out our recipe here used with all-natural ingredients:
1 ¼ cup whole wheat pastry flour
2/3 cup turbanado*
¾ tsp. baking soda
¼ cup prune puree
2 tbs. honey
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1/3 cup walnuts
Fruit juice as needed
Mix dry ingredients together. Then add wet ingredients. If dry, add small amounts of fruit juice to make dough. Place small balls on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
*Turbinado sugar is obtained from the initial pressings of the sugar cane. Because this sugar undergoes very little processing, it is considered a healthier alternative to white sugar. The turbinado sugar crystals are much coarser than those of sugar that has been processed further. They retain much of the taste of molasses, which is a by-product that occurs naturally during sugar processing.
